Supported Independent Living
At Uniting WA, we assist you to live the life you choose and help you make your house feel like home. We’ll regularly meet with you and the important people in your life to see how you are going and make changes to your services as needed. It is important to us that we support you to plan for your future.
“Uniting WA has not only given me a place to call home, but also given me the opportunity to pursue my passion in music.”

A social butterfly and participant’s story
“I have never seen my son so content and happy as he is now. My wife and I can sleep at night knowing he is supported and cared for by the Secret Harbour team…”
“No complaints, Mat is always shaved, smells nice, clothes are ironed, and he is always clean.
When the support workers send us pictures of him on his outings, he always has a big smile on his dial. Some support workers even come down in their own time to watch me in the pool with him, so they know what to do.
The small things they do for my son have a big impact. When I go and visit him, he is more talkative and starts up conversations which he wouldn’t before. Before he was always ruminating, about what had happened (from his attack). I felt he was regressing and not getting out into the community for stimulation. Now that is lessening. The support workers always talk to him about other things. They stimulate him all the time and find things to do with him.
Mat was always a social buff and now he is back to laughing and cracking jokes. The atmosphere is happy. I was a veteran in 1976 in the Vietnam was but when I see the changes in my son thanks to his Secret Harbour team, I feel like crying (from happiness).”
