Foster care

Uniting WA offers a specialised foster care service dedicated to connecting compassionate foster carers in Perth with children and young people who are unable to live in their family homes. These children often have high support needs due to experiences of illness, disability, or trauma.

Our foster carers receive comprehensive training and ongoing support to ensure they are well-equipped to meet the unique needs of each child.

Part-time foster care

Part-time foster care, also known as respite care, offers a unique and rewarding opportunity for foster carers and children.

Opening your home for a couple of days provides a safe and supportive environment for a child who needs temporary care. This short-term arrangement allows the child to expand their support network, experience new environments, and often have a lot of fun.

Becoming a part-time foster carer with Uniting WA means you will make a significant difference in children’s and young people’s lives, offering them stability and joy during their time of need.

Group foster care

Group foster care provides therapeutic care and support for children and young people who have experienced significant trauma and can no longer live with their families.

Our homes are staffed by full-time, live-in therapeutic carers who play a key role in providing a stable, safe and nurturing environment for up to four children or young people at a time.

We work as part of a care team with other professionals – and in some circumstances with the child’s family – to ensure the child’s needs are well understood and responded to at home, at school and in all other aspects of the child’s life.

Temporary care
We also provide short-term living arrangements that ensure the immediate well-being of children while we work towards a more permanent solution.
