Riverton House Project

Background

The City of Canning granted development approval for the proposed 2 new SIL houses in March 2022.

Uniting has identified a preferred builder and is in the process of securing the required funding to cover the costs of development.

All going well, construction to commence mid-2024 and be completed mid-2025.

Project summary and features

  1. Construction of 2 new SIL Houses:
    • 3-bedrooms each
    • open plan living areas
    • to provide safe, secure and stable accommodation for people with disability.

  2. Fully accessible design that meets and exceeds the Silver Level of Liveable Housing Australia Design standards.

  3. Meets a minimum 7-star NatHERS energy rating with range of solar passive design features.

  4. Residents will have access to:
    • shared indoor living spaces
    • landscaped outdoor communal spaces
    • designed to promote connection amongst residents.

  5. Access to wraparound support through Uniting WA, such as:
    • Home Care
    • Mental Health
    • NDIS services.
  6. Located in close proximity to:
    • public transport
    • medical and health services
    • shops
    • recreation facilities.
  7. The overall site area is 704sqm with two strata allotments of 352sqm.
