Reconciliation Week Morning Tea 2019

Last Friday (31 May), Bevan Winmar, a Noongar man, brought a deep, earthy hum to the Tranby Centre with his didgeridoo magic. Tranby Centre was the place to be for a Reconciliation Morning Tea.

UCW team members and people accessing our Tranby services came together for a morning tea, with kangaroo stew, damper and other treats on the menu.

The morning tea provided an opportunity for UCW team members and people accessing services to share an event together, to learn about each other and break down barriers, to explore how each of us can contribute to reconciliation, to strengthen relationships with First Peoples as well as people accessing our services.

Outside Tranby there was spontaneous entertainment with singalongs and guitar playing.

Following the morning tea over 50 staff and friends joined Reconciliation WA’s Walk for Reconciliation in the city.

At the heart of reconciliation is the relationship between the broader community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We send out a big thank you to all the Tranby staff and thank you also to everyone who came along a joined in serving up the stew, making fresh damper and engaging in meaningful conversations at this event.
