Uniting WA Welcomes The Relaunch of White Ribbon Australia

The return of White Ribbon Australia is an important step for Australians who stand for a just society.
Uniting commends Communicare for relaunching White Ribbon Australia under the leadership of Brad Chilcott as Executive Director.
The White Ribbon movement plays an important role in addressing gendered family and domestic violence in our community.
Reshaping the organisation from an awareness platform to one which is more focussed on meaningful and impactful advocacy is a welcome and timely move, says Uniting CEO Amanda Hunt.
“Right now, many community services agencies are facing unprecedented pressures to keep women and children safe in challenging times.
“The ability for national movements to decisively drive social change has never been more important, and effective engagement with all people – and all genders – is a positive step forward,” said Ms Hunt.
The approach by White Ribbon Australia will be to develop the capacity of communities to organise and develop local responses to local issues regarding domestic violence, gender equity, and keeping women and children safe. It will also involve engaging men and boys at the local level.
