Community Services Minister Simone McGurk was joined by Member for Perth John Carey to announce the $500,000 in new funding for UCW.
Announced during Homelessness Week, the funds will enable the expansion of operating hours at Tranby, helping us provide additional supports and services to people experiencing homelessness in and around the city.
Regular operating hours at Tranby are currently 7am-12pm Monday to Friday, and 8am-11am Saturdays.
UCW Chief Executive Officer Amanda Hunt says the funding couldn’t have come at a better time.
“We’ve been doing all we can to support the increasing numbers of people we are seeing at Tranby – people who are doing it tough and experiencing great hardship.
“This boost to our service will provide more opportunities to engage with people experiencing homelessness, helping us assist people in their journey towards safe and secure housing”, Ms Hunt said.
Over the coming weeks, UCW will work with partner agencies and groups to develop the roll-out of Tranby 7-7-7.
UCW is collaborating with Ruah to open 24/7 during Homelessness Week.
