Celebrating 25 years of service at Uniting WA

As a support worker, and later a supervisor in community homes for people with disability, Linda Gebbetis has enjoyed a rewarding career spanning 25 years at Uniting WA.

She started working as a casual carer for Mofflyn, one of the eight Uniting Church agencies that merged to become Uniting WA. Linda’s capability quickly stood out, leading to full-time work within 12 months. She completed all required training and her Cert III and Cert IV in Community Services.

Linda was later employed by Uniting WA as a supervisor for various homes.

“What I loved most about my work was that it was very family-oriented – most of the staff were familiar and all the residents and would socialise.”

Linda notes that when Uniting WA expanded its disability services portfolio around 10 years ago, there were more procedures, which made it harder to get to know everyone in a bigger organisation.

However, through all the changes she’s seen over the last 25 years, she still loves being part of the Uniting WA team, with a passionate drive to advocate for clients. Today, Linda works as a support worker at Uniting WA’s Supported Independent Living Home in Lake Coogee.

“I have gained a lot of valuable knowledge and it’s an awesome organisation to work for. I love my job and still find it both challenging and rewarding. I hope I am still helping clients lead the best lives they can lead.”

Thank you, Linda, for your hard work and dedication over the years!
