About the opportunity.
The Family Foundations program based in Mirrabooka is a safe space for families to come together to build friendships and reduce isolation.
Our Family Foundations volunteers play an important role in providing social support and connections, while working with staff to forge a stronger awareness of local services and resources. A few hours a week can make a difference.
Who we are looking for.
Are you passionate about sharing your cooking skills to make delicious meals or would love to provide a nurturing environment for the young participants?
You have the opportunity to utilise your skills to help with practical support like cooking meals or playing games with the young participants building self-confidence and resilience.
Roles.
Volunteers in the Community Cook role assists meal planning, preparation and distribution, sorting food deliveries and kitchen upkeep. Volunteers need to be able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
The Volunteer Activity Assistant role requires a creative mind to help the young people grow while they learn and play. Tasks include organising playtime activities, providing support with homework tasks and creating opportunities for adventures with friends.
Volunteers have the opportunity to work across both roles
Hours.
Monday – Thursday 3pm – 6pm
Requirements.
A commitment to completing training requirements (including e-learning) is required for the role. Role specific training includes:
- Uniting Induction, orientation and training
- Safe Food Handling
- Manual Handling
To ensure compliance with the community care services worker (restrictions on access) directions, Uniting WA can only accept applications from individuals who are fully vaccinated
Volunteering with Uniting is subject to completing the relevant role specific training and satisfactory background checks which include a National Police Check and Reference Checks. (Police Clearance applications can be organised by Uniting)
About the opportunity.
The Tranby Engagement Hub offers a range of crucial support services for people experiencing homelessness. People utilising the hub can have a meal, shower, use the computers and access wrap-around-support from visiting agencies including medical, legal, counselling and advocacy support services.
Who we are looking for.
We welcome volunteers who are passionate about ending homelessness and who are eager to make change at a local level. Volunteers must have good communication skills and be able to work with staff, service users and other volunteers in a non-judgmental, patient and friendly manner. Volunteers must be willing to adhere to policies and processes including confidentiality and maintaining boundaries.
Tasks
Volunteers at Tranby assist with the delivery of a superb service in our kitchen and provide the people we support with essential items. Tasks for volunteers at Tranby include food planning, preparation and distribution, sorting and arranging food deliveries and upkeep of the kitchen.
Hours.
Opening hours Volunteer Shifts
Monday to Friday 7am – 1pm 7- 10am and 10am – 1.00pm
Saturday 7am – 12pm 7 – 9:30am and 9:30am – 12pm
Sunday 12pm – 5pm 12pm– 2:30pm and 2:30- 5pm
We ask that volunteers make a regular commitment of 2 – 3 hours weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

About the opportunity.
As an admin and events volunteer you will support various teams within the organisation with a range task, from assisting with event planning to archiving documents.
Who we are looking for
This is the perfect role for someone who likes meeting new people and wants to learn new skills in a friendly and welcoming environment. This diverse role will see you involved in various tasks, from assisting with event planning to archiving documents. We would like to engage someone with a background in administrative support or a keenness to learn.
Tasks
Volunteer tasks may include updating Uniting volunteer resources, assisting with the volunteer communications strategy, creative input into volunteer program renewal and development and contributing to the wellbeing of other Uniting volunteers
Hours.
Flexible hours, with office hours preferred, unless working remotely
We would appreciate a regular commitment during normal office hours.

About the opportunity.
Food Rescue is a volunteer-based social initiative that diverts food landfill, while feeding and nourishing people experiencing homelessness in Western Australia. Volunteering for Uniting Food Rescue is a great way to be active while making a positive impact in people’s lives
Who we are looking for.
As a Food Rescue volunteer, you will be passionate about food redistribution and contributing to minimising food waste. We are looking for volunteers who are personable and committed. You have the option to offer to support the program with regular shifts or choose to be a support on a ad-hoc basis during one of our special appeals.
Tasks.
Using one of the Uniting WA vehicles you will help rescue quality surplus food from supermarkets and other commercial outlets. Food rescue volunteers help by driving the van to collect surplus food as well as lifting and loading deliveries.
Requirements.
Food Rescue volunteers need to possess a current standard driving license and have a good driving history. Volunteers must be confidence driving a medium-sized car or van and have good navigation skills. Volunteers need to be able to perform physical tasks including lifting and loading.
